3 Things That You Never Want To Hear From Your Roofer
June 25, 2021 by Heritage Roofing
The success of any roofing project relies heavily on the contractor you are working with. But, let’s face it, not all roofing companies are created equal and some are more skilled and experienced than others. If you hire one to work on your asphalt shingles roof, here are three statements that you never want to hear them make.
1. Can You Pay Upfront?
Most reputable roofing companies will not ask you for a large payment upfront. Instead, they will ask you to make a small deposit to cover the initial cost of materials. Once the job is completed and everything is to your satisfaction, this is when they will ask you to hand over a check for the remaining balance.
2. Your Roof Needs To Be Replaced Immediately
Sure, your roof may be in need of a replacement if it is getting on in years or if the damage is too extensive, but if a residential roofing company immediately suggests a full replacement especially if your roof is relatively new and well-maintained, don’t just take their word for it. Instead, seek a second (or third) opinion from another roofer. In any case, you should ask for a quote from more than one roofing company anyway.
3. We Don’t Offer Workmanship Guarantees
If you hear your potential roofing contractor utter these words in the initial planning stages, then the conversation should pretty much be over. A good roofer will be more than willing to stand behind their work and offer guarantees on workmanship. If they don’t, then chances are they do lousy work and you should steer clear from them.
